iBASEt: Discrete Manufacturing Made Simple

Today’s competitive manufacturing arena demands for complete workflow visibility, increased data accuracy, and maximized process, planning, and scheduling activities. This has led many manufacturing companies to move beyond the old paper-based processes and start implementing new streamlined Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) that give operators instant access to work instructions. From inspection and planning to shop floor and supply chain activities, iBASEt provides proven, out-of-the-box solutions that deliver real-time information and process control by reducing the reliance on manual work instructions and time-consuming workflows—simplifying complex manufacturing process and accelerating productivity.

iBASEt replaces a myriad of disparate shop floor and supply chain solutions with an integrated software suite— Solumina—to synchronize data and foster collaboration between internal and external teams. “Our flagship product, Solumina streamlines and integrates MES, Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM), Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) and Enterprise Quality Management System (EQMS) for delivering faster manufacturing productivity,” says Vic Sial, President, iBASEt.

Throughout manufacturing, supply chain, maintenance, repair, and overhaul, the iBASEt Solumina suite enables full shop floor to top floor manufacturing visibility, consistent practices, and continuous product and process improvement. Every aspect of manufacturing, including automating and digitizing interactive work instructions are updated in real-time, saving valuable time and eliminating production outages that can slow down performance. Solumina provides the operator with easy to follow instructions and specifications that reduce the learning curve and errors.

In addition, Solumina MES provides easy data entry and displays a simple data collection form for multiple disconnected work areas. Users are alerted when there are outstanding data collections and measurements are outside the specified control limits. Work order operations cannot be completed until all the data collection requirements are fulfilled.

Solumina also stores the history on each unit, including work instructions, data collection, buy-off signatures, discrepancies, and complete product genealogy. Operators and inspectors “stamp” work completion and approvals online, storing each buyoff stamp as part of a unit’s history.

Leveraging this history, inspectors can initiate discrepancy reports directly from a buyoff point in the work order, all from within Solumina MES.

The firm’s Solumina suite is leveraged across a broad spectrum of aerospace, defense, medical products, industrial, and nuclear industries. It has also set a new standard in MES performance—as it integrates engineering, process execution, supplier management, quality management, and after-market service in one software suite. In one instance, Textron Systems—a provider of advanced marine craft and armored vehicles—chose to standardize on iBASEt’s MES to efficiently manage numerous mission critical requirements and operations, while providing managers instant control and visibility into the entire manufacturing work processes and delivering digital work instructions through an integrated system. Today, Textron Systems relies entirely on Solumina to capture manufacturing data during a product’s manufacturing lifecycle and provide detailed manufacturing information—easily accessible through dashboards, graphs, and reports. Utilizing Solumina, Textron Systems is enhancing quality checks and balancing its manufacturing operations, resulting in a significant reduction in defects, increased throughput, and enhanced collaboration between engineers and manufacturers.

“With our expansion over the last few years, we felt it was time that our office environment matched the growth of our employees,” states Sial. “Our new global locations and enhanced operational efficiencies will help us continue to grow and evolve to keep pace with our customer’s needs.” Forging ahead, the firm will continue providing greater control, compliance, time-to-market, and visibility for complex manufacturers managing product lifecycle execution with accurate instructions and real time data.
